Samsung awarded with EU RED Certification for its latest TVs, monitors and commercial display products

Samsung has announced that its latest TVs, monitors, and commercial displays meet the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which will include new cybersecurity rules starting 1 August 2025.

“With the growing focus on security in the industry, we are improving our security features to stay ahead of this trend,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are also committed to bringing innovations with advanced security and technology worldwide to strengthen customer trust in our products.”

The EU’s RED, introduced in 2016, sets important standards for safety, compatibility, and efficient use of radio equipment. In 2022, new cybersecurity rules were added to the RED to enhance protection against threats, protect personal data, and reduce fraud risks. These rules will be required starting in August 2025.

The TÜV SÜD assessment looks at Samsung’s entire visual display lineup for 2024–2025 in the European market, including TVs, monitors, digital signage, and Color E-Paper. Samsung is working to ensure that all relevant products meet these new standards as part of its global readiness.

This focus on meeting these regulations shows Samsung’s ongoing commitment to product security across its range of devices. In 2024, the company will also introduce its own cryptographic module.

  • Samsung CryptoCore, earned FIPS 140-3 certification from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). As of 2025, Samsung CryptoCore has been integrated into Tizen OS, the operating system powering Samsung Smart TVs, to enhance protection across key product lines including TVs, monitors and digital signage.
  • In addition, Samsung Smart TVs are equipped with its Samsung Knox security platform, which has earned Common Criteria (CC) certification every year since 2015 – further underscoring Samsung’s leadership in consumer device security.
