Samsung has announced a beta program for the new version of Bixby, which now works as a conversational agent. This update allows users to interact with Galaxy devices more easily by asking questions in natural language and provides access to current information from the web.
“Since we introduced our first AI phone in 2024, we’ve been committed to making them easier to use so more people can benefit from AI — that’s why we decided to integrate a device agent directly into the experience,” said Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “To support this, we redesigned Bixby to enable more natural interactions and intuitive device control, reducing friction in everyday tasks.”
Intuitive Device Control Through Natural Conversation
Bixby lets users control their Galaxy devices using simple, everyday language. There’s no need to memorize specific commands or understand complicated menus. Users can just say what they want or ask why something is happening, and Bixby will understand and take action.
For instance, if someone says, “I don’t want the screen to time out while I’m still looking at it,” Bixby will turn on the ‘Keep Screen on While Viewing’ setting right away, without needing to search through menus.
Bixby also checks the current settings and suggests solutions, making it easier for users to complete tasks quickly, even if they’re not familiar with their device.
If a user asks, “Why is my phone screen always on when it’s in my pocket?” Bixby will recognize the situation and show relevant settings, like Accidental Touch Protection, so they can easily turn it on.
Real-Time Web Search Capabilities
Bixby now lets you search the web in real time. This means you can get the latest information without leaving Bixby’s interface. You can easily explore topics and find answers to your questions without switching to a different browser or app, helping you stay focused on what you need to do.
For example, if you say to Bixby, “Find me hotels in Seoul that have swimming pools for kids,” it will look up the information and show you the results directly in its interface. This allows you to see your options quickly and without any delays.
Availability
The latest Bixby updates are included in One UI 8.5 in select markets like Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the U.S., with plans for more regions later. For more details about Bixby, visit Samsung Malaysia’s Official Website.
