Samsung’s latest 9100 PRO will be available in Malaysia, marking its first consumer SSD series that supports PCIe 5.0, with read speeds up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 13,400 MB/s. The 9100 PRO is Samsung’s fastest consumer SSD so far, providing top performance for multitasking on laptops, gaming PCs, and consoles.
Available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB, the 9100 PRO range caters to users needing faster access speeds for data processing on laptops or PCs, especially professional creators handling AI content. Extreme gamers will also benefit from the SSD’s high performance and ample storage capacity.
Enhanced Performance and Improved Power Efficiency
With PCIe 5.0, the 9100 PRO is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor, achieving sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s, respectively (compared to the 7,450 MB/s of the 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 4TB). Its random read and write speeds also improve to up to 2,200K IOPS and 2,600K IOPS.
Power efficiency for the 9100 PRO is 49% better than the previous generation, achieving 1,822 MB/s read and 1,703 MB/s write per Watt, while the 990 PRO 4TB achieves 1,221 MB/s read and 1,255 MB/s write per Watt.
Overheating Prevention, Expanded Storage Capacity and Broad Device Compatibility
The 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models of the 9100 PRO have an 8.8mm heatsink that meets the PCISIG D8 standard. This helps with better heat management and stops overheating.
The 8TB model of the 9100 PRO has a thicker 11.25mm heatsink and is Samsung’s first NVMe SSD with a larger capacity. This is great for gaming, game development, and content creation.
Samsung Magician Software Support
To assist users in optimizing Samsung SSDs, the 9100 PRO includes Samsung Magician software for data migration, protection, drive health monitoring, and firmware update notifications.
Availability and Pricing
The 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models of the 9100 PRO series will be available starting 4 April 2025, through the Samsung Online Store, Lazada, Shopee, and select electronics stores. The 8TB model will be available from June 2025.
