SAIC Motor Malaysia has unveiled the local specs of the new MG ZS, a compact SUV, at the KL International Mobility Show 2026, happening from 12 to 21 June 2026. There are two variants: the LUX Turbo and LUX Hybrid+, with the turbo version launching later.
At the launch, Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia, said that the new MG ZS Hybrid+ and turbo models show MG’s goal to meet more consumer needs and enhance its standing in Malaysia’s competitive automotive market.
“Every MG model introduced in Malaysia is carefully selected based on the needs and expectations of Malaysian consumers in today’s competitive automotive landscape. The MGS5 and MG ZS offer a range of popular powertrains that cater to different market segments, while sharing the same smart, forward-thinking features that define the MG brand,” said Qi.
Also at KLIMS 2026 was Jozef Kabaň, Vice President of Global Design at SAIC Motor, who talked about MG’s changing design language and shared a look at the brand’s future design plans, highlighting MG’s focus on innovation and modern mobility.
The MG ZS has a stylish and sporty look while being practical for everyday use. Its outside features a striking front with unique headlights, a black grille, smooth curves, rear LED lights, a sleek spoiler, and modern 18-inch wheels.
As the largest SUV in its class, measuring 4,430mm long and 1,818mm wide, the MG ZS offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with high-quality materials. There is plenty of headroom and legroom, along with smart storage options. It also has 443 litres of boot space, which can be increased to 1,457 litres when the rear seats are down, making it one of the roomiest in its category. Inside, it comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a digital dashboard for easy access to driving information.
The MG ZS Hybrid+ is powered by a 1.83kWh battery, a 100kW electric motor, and a 1.5L engine, providing a total power of 158kW and torque of 465Nm. It uses an advanced 3-speed Hybrid Transmission for a smooth driving experience, combining quick electric motor performance with a hybrid engine without needing to plug it in. It can go from 0 to 100km/h in 8.7 seconds, making it the fastest hybrid SUV in its class, with a driving range of up to 870km on a full 41-litre fuel tank.
All MG cars come with MG PILOT Driver Safety Technology to improve safety and comfort with a range of advanced driving features. Plus, with MG iSMART, MG ZS owners can control important car functions through their smartphones, including keyless entry.
Available in four exterior colours of red, silver, black and white coupled with an all-black interior, the final specifications of the MG ZS will be unveiled at its official launch.
Customers who place an early booking for the MG ZS during the promotional period with a booking fee of RM99 will be entitled to a RM3,000 rebate and three years of complimentary maintenance.
Debut of the IM and IM6 in Malaysia
KLIMS 2026 marks the Malaysian debut of IM (Intelligence in Motion), SAIC Motor’s luxury sub-brand, showcasing the all-electric IM6 smart SUV. With a length of 4,904mm and a width of 1,988mm, the IM6 features a spacious cabin, panoramic glass roof, and advanced comfort features. It delivers up to 600km of WLTP-rated range, 572kW of power, and 802Nm of torque.
SAIC Motor Malaysia also presents the MG ZS, MG HS Hybrid+, MG QS, MGS5 EV, and Cyberster at the event. A limited-time offer includes a RM7,000 rebate, a complimentary 7kW Wall Box Charger, and RM1,000 in charging credit when booking the MGS5 EV, starting at RM116,900.
