Qualcomm and Snap extents strategic collaboration to Advance Intelligent Computing Experiences on Specs

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Specs Inc., a subsidiary of Snap, have formed a long-term partnership to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon system-on-a-chip (SoC) in future Specs products.

Powering the Next Generation of Eyewear

This is the first major project for Specs Inc., which will launch Specs, a new type of eyewear that connects the digital world with the physical world, for consumers later this year. Specs are clear glasses that let you see, hear, and interact with digital content as if it’s right in front of you.

Specs use Snapdragon XR technology. This technology combines smart AI with powerful, energy-efficient computing, allowing experiences to work directly on the glasses for quick and private interactions. This effort shows both companies’ dedication to making technology more user-friendly and integrated into daily life, changing how people work, learn, and have fun together.

Building on a Decade-Long Relationship

Snap and Qualcomm Technologies are enhancing their collaboration to advance immersive technology, following years of partnership that previously enabled Snap’s Spectacles through Snapdragon platforms. The two companies aim to integrate features like on-device AI and multiuser digital experiences into the Specs platform. This initiative lays a scalable foundation for developers and partners, ensuring a steady product development pace and fostering the creation of more advanced digital experiences in the future.

“We believe the future of computing will be more human and grounded in the real world,” said Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO, Snap Inc. “Our work with Qualcomm Technologies provides a strong foundation for the future of Specs, bringing developers and consumers advanced technology and performance that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.”

“The next era of computing will be defined by devices that understand what you see, hear and say as well as context, and respond instantly to the world around you,” said Cristiano Amon, President and Chief Executive Officer, Qualcomm Incorporated. “Our work on future generations of Specs will enable power-efficient interactive AR devices that deliver agentic experiences that feel natural, intuitive and integrate seamlessly into daily life.”
