Prime Video’s That Cover Girl premieres in Kuala Lumpur, streaming globally on 19 Oct 2023

Prime Video has hosted a grand premiere for the its first Amazon Original series from Malaysia That Cover Girl at Hilton KL. The event was graced and supported by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), underlining its significance in the realm of Malaysian entertainment. 

The event kicked off with a fashion catwalk featuring homegrown influencers and talented members of the show’s cast, setting the tone for an evening of style and sophistication. Moreover, the event was elevated to a soulful crescendo with mesmerizing performances by top Malaysian singers, Marsha Milan and Hazama, who wowed the audience with songs from the enchanting series soundtrack; Nafsi Sufiyya (by Marsha Milan) and Sang Pemilik (by Hazama). To capture the spirit of the evening, the event hashtag, #thatcovergirl, was widely embraced on social media, further enhancing the event’s digital footprint.

The event attracted a diverse audience, including industry players, media, and numerous other fashion, lifestyle, and creative industry luminaries. 

Abid said that the inspiration behind That Cover Girl was based on bringing to life a strong female character. It was developed with the desire to tell a relatable and empowering story about a young Muslim woman navigating her dreams and challenges in the modern world.

Siti Saleha mentioned that her character, Sofi Safwan, is brilliant in many ways but also so daring. She also stated that the reason for taking the role is because it is very authentic and it speaks about current issues; fashion, and modesty. 

As for Hisyam Hamid, who portrayed as Arif, Sofi’s loving and supportive husband, said that when he has prepare for the role which includes understanding the dynamics of a loving and understanding husband. 

Alicia Amin plays as Laila, said that as the series unfolds, audience will get to see a lot of colors. Meanwhile, Aiman Hakim who plays Darius, says that as a metaphor, the series is like silk, smooth but full of details and beautiful.

Directors Abid Hussain and Megat Sharizal as well as members of the main cast like Siti Saleha, Hisyam Hamid, Alicia Amin, and Aiman Hakim helmed the press conference for this anticipated series. That Cover Girl will be exclusively available in Malaysia and more than 240 territories worldwide starting 19 October 2023. Every episode will be made available on the day of launch.
