pandasafe successfully wrapped up at Penang to promote driving safer habits Among Delivery Partners

foodpanda Malaysia recently concluded its pandasafe training session in Penang on 20 May, marking its first expansion into the Northern region. As part of its panda hearts initiative, pandasafe has evolved into a structured safety programme, reaching 250 delivery partners since launching in August 2022.

The programme employs telematics technology to monitor riding behaviours like speed compliance and braking trends. This enables foodpanda to provide tailored interventions. Data from sessions conducted for 200 delivery partners in the Klang Valley shows that 87.1% of participants improved their safety performance scores, while 12.9% maintained their levels.

Shubham Saran, Director of Operations at foodpanda Malaysia said, “The progress of pandasafe reinforces our belief that delivery partner safety must be approached as a long-term commitment rather than a one-off initiative. Delivery partners safety is central to our operations as they are the backbone of our business and their wellbeing directly impacts brand trust. By combining practical road skills with financial resilience education, our vision is to train 400 delivery partners nationwide by the end of the year through this comprehensive framework, with the aim of expanding this reach even further in the future.”

The initiative fosters a strategic coalition of public and private partners to provide comprehensive support. Delivery partners receive training in first response and CPR from Allianz Malaysia, alongside practical safety riding sessions with Hong Leong Yamaha Motor. The program emphasizes long-term resilience through financial literacy and scam awareness training by Hong Leong Bank, as well as social protection modules with PERKESO. Feedback indicates that the training is effectively helping delivery partners develop safer habits, correct riding mistakes, increase discipline, and boost confidence in managing risky situations, thereby transforming safety into a daily practice rather than merely a compliance issue.

The company has confirmed they will continue expanding this initiative across the country, with plans to extend the program to delivery partners in Kelantan and across the East Coast. The company also welcomes collaboration with like-minded strategic partners to further elevate the program and create even more safety-driven incentives for delivery partners.
