Panasonic has launched their latest LUMIX S9 for the Malaysia market, the brand’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera in the LUMIX S Series. Available in Jet Black, Crimson Red, Dark Olive, and Dark Silver, it is a stylish companion for content creators on the go. The camera features a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and the latest engine, providing rich detail with natural tones. It also has PDAF for excellent subject tracking and Active I.S. to reduce blurring from camera shake even when shooting handheld.
The camera allows creators to enjoy a range of popular color styles in-camera through the REAL TIME LUT function via a dedicated ‘LUT’ button on the camera body. The new LUMIX Lab app enables creators to develop their own unique LUT color files on their smartphone, allowing them to generate original and shareable stills and videos without the need for post-production editing on a computer. The speed of data transfer from camera to smartphone has also been improved.
The LUMIX S9 introduces a new recording format, MP4 Lite, allowing creators to capture high-quality videos in the optimum format for smartphones and resize aspect ratios to suit social media with the LUMIX Lab app. The official launch of the LUMIX S9 took place on 29 May 2024 at AfterOne, Kuala Lumpur.

Panasonic has introduced the LUMIX S 26mm F8 (S-R26) at RM 1,099, a compact and lightweight full frame lens designed for casual and creative shooting. With a fixed focal length of 26mm, F-stop of F8, and manual focus, it delivers unique results compared to the existing LUMIX S Series wide-angle, fixed focal length lenses.
The brand also set to release the LUMIX S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens, a versatile zoom lens ideal for daily use. With a closest shooting distance of 0.15m/0.49ft, it covers focal lengths from 18mm to 40mm, allowing for expansive landscapes, buildings, or portrait shots in natural perspective. The lenses perfectly match the LUMIX S9, creating a cohesive and stylish look for users who value form and function.
The LUMIX S9 is distributed by Shriyo Marketing and currently available for pre-order at RM 7,599 for the DC-S9GA Body and RM 8,999 for the DC-S9KGA, which includes an R2060 Lens. Retail pre-orders are available in Jet Black and Dark Olive from 30 May to 30 June 2024, while those pre-order from Lazada or Shopee, happening on 6 to 30 June 2024, are Jet Black and Crimson Red. Pre-orders comes with free gifts including a SmallRig L-Shape Handle, battery pack, and 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SD Card.
