It looks like the cast and the crew for the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is happy to deliver another masterpiece for the Star Wars universe and global fans.
For Ewan McGregor, he was glad to reprised the role once more as over the years he has been asked two things; would he do the sequel to Trainspotting, and would he ever play Obi-Wan Kenobi again. As the previous film was made before the social media era happened, Ewan felt that the response for the film was not good. However, he slowly feel that fans really liked them over the years and that they meant a lot to that generation which warmed his feelings about them.
Ewan was also happy to work along with Hayden Christensen when the project was proposed to both actors. While they had slightly lost touch over the years, they managed to click instantly together again on set was like the last 17 years.
As for Deborah Chow, the director for Obi-Wan Kenobi, she was excited to do a limited series as the team get to tell sort of a bigger story while have the time to really get into the character. When she and her team were developing the material, they were looking at the character of Obi-Wan for what was important in his life and what are the relationships that were meaningful.
As the series is closely related to Revenge of the Sith, Deborah expected the series to have a strong storyline that was connected to Anakin Vader and it just felt natural to have Hayden onboard to continue the storyline.
New comer to the Star Wars universe is actress Moses Ingram, who shared she was excited and surprised when she received the project. Being a Star Wars project, she couldn’t said no after reading the script as she felt it was edgy, fun and cool.
Moses is playing the character Reva, where she feel the character is really smart and she plays the offense and she’s always 10 steps ahead due to the fact she is a subordinate of Darth Vader. Moses also said it was fun to portray a bad character
Performing on the new stagecraft set also gave Ewan an eye-opener when compared to the first three movies where it uses a lot of blue screen and green screen which is hard for him. The stagecraft set allows him to get the feel of the location which helps him to believe he is at a real location. Ewan, Moses and Hayden also had to practice their combat scene for months before the actual shoot starts.
Lastly, Ewan also mention his character is getting closer Alec Guinness version. Ewan thinks his Obi-Wan Kenobi now is just a bit closer to his version where he is living in the desert alone.
You can watch Obi-Wan Kenobi in Malaysia exclusively via Disney+ Hotstar on 27 May 2022.
