Nothing Phone (1) officially launched in Malaysia with price starts from RM 2,399; Pop-up Store at The Starhill from 21-25 July

Nothing has officially launched its latest smartphone, Nothing Phone (1), in Malaysia with the launch happened at Sentul Depot on 20 July.

Nothing also announced that a pop-up store will be held at The Starhill from 21- 25 July for pre orders with ultra fast deliveries scheduled for 1 August. 

Nothing also announced a collaboration with Crossover as part of the limited drop programme joining the likes of other premium fashion boutique lifestyle stores across the world such as Selfridges, GQ, Lane Crawford, Eslite, Carnival, Commonwealth, and Limited Edt. Despite being the first of its kind for Crossover, the merchandise at Crossover sold out within the first 15 minutes upon launching at the stroke of midnight on July 18. Crossover design essence can be seen creatively visible in the launch event of Nothing Phone (1) at Sentul Depot on July 20.

“We designed Phone (1) as a product we would be proud to share with friends and family,” said Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing. “This simple principle helped us wander off the beaten path, tune into our instincts, and create an experience that hopefully marks the start of change in a stagnant industry.” 

The key highlight of the smartphone is the Glyph Interface, a unique light patterns made up of 900 LEDs indicate caller identity and signals app notifications, charging status among others. Users can even pair individual contacts to a ringtone, each with a unique Glyph pattern. There is also the Flip to Glyph feature, where it triggers silent, lights-only notifications by placing Phone (1) with the Glyph Interface face up.

For design, Phone (1) features a transparent back with a unique design composed of over 400 components. Its 100% recycled aluminium frame makes it light and robust, while over 50% of the phone’s plastic components are made with bio-based or post-consumer recycled materials. Protecting the device are Dual-side Gorilla Glass 5, whilst advanced vibration motors helps immersive touch responses. Last but not least. the Phone (1) has IP53 rating.

Powering the Phone (1) is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, a custom chip made specially for Nothing to include wireless and reverse charging. The device is also paired along with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB ROM. For display, the 6.55” OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ will deliver the best visual and smooth scrolling experience. The display also has symmetrical bezels which also increases the premium feel to Phone (1). The device uses Nothing OS which offers no bloatware for fast and smooth user experience.

Nothing Ecosystem is the home for all your favourite tech. No more separate apps. Control third party products from Phone (1)’s Quick Settings as easily as Nothing ones, starting with Tesla. Unlock doors, turn on AC, see miles left and more. More third party brand integrations to be announced soon. 

In the battery department, Phone (1) is packing a 4500 mAh battery that supports 33W PD3.0 wired charging, 15W Qi wireless charging with dual charging support and 5W reverse charging. While there are no charging adapters included, Nothing is advising users to only use with chargers compatible with Quick Charge 4.0 to get the fast charging features.

For imaging, a dual camera on the rear housed two advanced 50 MP sensors, with the main camera powered by the flagship Sony IMX766 while the ultrawide camera powered by 50 MP Samsung JN1 sensor. For selfies, a 16 MP front camera will deliver all the selfies photos and videos.

The Phone (1) is available in white and black, with two models to choose from: 8GB/256GB priced at RM 2,399, and the 12GB/256GB at RM2,699 (available mid August onwards).The Nothing Phone (1) kicks off its national availability on August 1 through its flagship e-commerce stores on Lazada and Shopee and electronic retailers such as SenQ, SenHeng, TMT, Direct D and Satu Gadget.
