New Balance has unveiled the 471, a new versatile silhouette that pairs 1970s running heritage with everyday wearability. The 471 will be arriving in Malaysia from 26 March 2025 onwards.

Rooted in New Balance design, the 471 takes inspiration from iconic archival models that changed road running. It features quality materials and vintage details for a modern take on a classic style. The 471 is a versatile wardrobe staple suitable for any look.
“We knew we wanted to offer a shoe with a sleeker profile while maintaining our strong connection and history within the ’70s running space. I spent a lot of time researching vintage elements, pulling inspiration from New Balance heritage models, materials, colours, details, and trims of the era. Even our choice to use materials like hairy suede overlays and woven mesh connects back to what was used in sneakers during that period of design. The result is a new shoe that offers a low-profile look and blends together unique vintage quirks with a distinct modern-day appeal,” says Joe Walsh, Lead Footwear Designer at New Balance.
Creating a new silhouette allows New Balance to meet customer expectations without simply replicating retro styles. The 471 reflects New Balance’s integration of performance history into lifestyle offerings and was debuted by brand ambassador Cameron Brink at the NBA Paris Games, showcasing the shoe’s stylistic versatility.

The 471 will be available online and at New Balance’s The Exchange TRX and Pavilion KL outlets from 26 March onwards, with a suggested retail price of RM449.00. New Balance Malaysia has confirmed that more colourways will be launching in the months to come, meanwhile you can visit the New Balance website to find out more.
