MINI Malaysia today has launched the latest All-Electric MINI and MINI John Cooper Works GP for the Malaysian market. Both models truly brings an electrifying performance and is currently available for booking right now at all authorised MINI showrooms. Now let’s find out what both models can offer.

All-Electric MINI – Same old MINI with all-new electrifying technology

The All-Electric MINI was launched in conjunction with MINI’s 61st Birthday and it’s the first time for a fully electrified MINI appearing in Malaysia market. The All-Electric MINI is powered by a synchronous electric motor developed by the BMW Group – a front-axle electric engine capable of 135kw/184HP, as well as a 12-module T-shaped battery unit with a net capacity of 28.9kWh. It also has a peak torque of 270Nm, and emits zero carbon emissions locally while consuming 16.8 – 14.8kWh per 100km of travel. With this, it is capable achieving the 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds.

You can get the All-Electric MINI in the exclusive White Silver with Energetic Yellow pairing, the British Racing Green, and the Chili Red. With the Lights package, the new three-door hatch is equipped with Matrix LED headlights and LED rear lights featuring the iconic Union Jack design. Along the sides, the New All-Electric MINI features adapted spats geometry, the E-Badge on the side scuttle, as well as aero-optimised mirror caps in either Black or Energetic Yellow. Interior and exterior mirrors with anti-dazzle function also equips the vehicle as standard. The new MINI rides on 17-inch wheels in the MINI Electric Power Spoke two-tone with run flat tyres.

When recharging at a DC charging station, the New All-Electric MINI only requires approximately 36 minutes to go from zero to 80% charge. The MINI Wallbox Plus offers an 80% charge in just two and half hours, similar to recharging at a public charging station. At home, the MINI can be charged to 80% in 12 hours with the yellow contingency charging cable, available with the vehicle.

The MINI Connected app provides full transparency on the New All-Electric MINI’s status too. The electric car is also the first MINI model in Malaysia to be equipped with the Driving Assistant system. Other safety features also include Park Assistant, front and rear Park Distance Control, Cruise Control with braking function, along with the Wired packages as standard.

The New All-Electric MINI can be booked online via https://shop.mini.my/booking/mini-electric, with a booking fee of RM1,000.

MINI John Cooper Works GP – For MINIac that need for speed

The MINI John Cooper Works GP is limited to 10 units only in Malaysia thus making it a very much sought after limited edition MINI model in Malaysia. The car comes in exclusively in Racing Grey metallic, with the roof and exterior mirror caps finished in the contrasting Melting Silver metallic.  The hexagonal radiator grille, the inserts in the lower air intake and the inside of the roof spoiler finished in high-gloss Chili Red helps the car emits an aggressive impression. This is accentuated by the GP insignia stylised in Rosso Red metallic matte on the front and rear, the outer sides of the roof spoiler, foils above the side skirts and the door sill finishers.

The MINI John Cooper Works GP is fitted as standard with 18-inch lightweight forged wheels that weigh less than nine kilogrammes. The hub caps on the exclusive wheels bear the GP logo. The vehicle’s aerodynamic properties also include the large and strikingly flared wheel arch trims, manufactured through a special process and with a material combination used for the first time by the BMW Group. This consist of a thermoplastic substructure and an outer shell made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). The MINI John Cooper Works GP is the BMW Group’s first production vehicle to feature an exposed matte CFRP coating. The individual numbering with the numbers “0001” to “3000” is applied to the surfaces of the front wheel arch panels by means of a newly developed paint transfer process.

Powering the car is a two-litre, four-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo, paired with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission with mechanical differential lock produces 306 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The GP is capable to hit 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds, and has a maximum speed of 265km/h. With a time of less than eight minutes at the Nürburgring, the GP is significantly faster than its predecessor.

The GP was precisely tuned to the car’s extremely high engine output. The model-specific versions of the single-joint sprint strut for the front wheels and the multilink rear axle were also optimised with regards to component stiffness. The track widths were increased, and the body lowered by 10 millimetres compared to the MINI John Cooper Works to increase agility.

The MINI Visual Boost comes as a standard with Navigation System in the New MINI John Cooper Works GP, displaying model-specific information on the 8.8-inch screen in the central instrument panel. The standard trim also includes a black panel digital instrument cluster on the steering column. The high-resolution 5-inch colour screen shows the road speed both numerically and on a scale, as well as model-specific display including temporary feedback and permanent display after activation of the GP mode.
