MG Motor Malaysia celebrated its 2nd Anniversary at Bamboo Hills by sharing its key product milestones, growing customer engagement, and continued expansion plans as the brand strengthens its presence in the Malaysian market.
The first quarter of the year saw MG Motor Malaysia build momentum with notable achievements. The MG Cyberster was awarded Performance Car of the Year by MARii, highlighting the brand’s reputation for innovative electric vehicles.
February’s Dealer Conference and Chinese New Year celebration united the dealer network, emphasizing growth and customer engagement.
A key milestone occurred in March with the MGS5 EV CKD Roll-Out Ceremony at EP Manufacturing Berhad in Melaka, marking the release of MG’s first locally assembled electric vehicle, reinforcing its commitment to local assembly and the development of Malaysia’s EV ecosystem.

The new MGS5 EV CKD is now available in Malaysia for RM116,900. This electric vehicle aims to make electric mobility easier for more Malaysians. It can be viewed and test-driven at all MG showrooms across the country, with a special launch offer of up to RM9,000.
In addition to this launch, MG Motor Malaysia is engaging customers with various festive and retail events, like showroom promotions and dealer open houses during Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. They also introduced the “Experience British Driving Dynamics” test drive campaign to let more people try MG vehicles.
MG is furthering this excitement through roadshows at popular locations like Desa ParkCity, Quayside Mall, The Curve, Starling Mall, and IOI City Mall, where consumers can see MG’s car range and learn more about the brand.
On the global stage, MG is advancing its technology. At MG Tech Day in Frankfurt, the brand showcased the MG Hybrid+ and the world’s first mass-produced semi-solid-state battery, demonstrating its commitment to innovation.
MG Motor Malaysia saw a 57% sales increase in Q1 2026 compared to Q4 2025, and 39% compared to Q1 2025, showing strong market interest and confidence in the brand.
“Q1 has been a meaningful and encouraging start to the year for MG in Malaysia,” said Emory Qi, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “From product recognition to the local roll-out of the MGS5 EV CKD, these milestones reflect the strength of our product line-up and our long-term commitment to the Malaysian market.”
He added, “As we move further into 2026, we remain focused on delivering compelling products, strengthening customer engagement, and continuing to expand our footprint through innovation and localisation.”
MG Motor Malaysia will take part in the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS). At the show, the brand will present its latest developments and future plans. Notably, Jozef Kaban, Vice President of Global Design at SAIC Motor, will be there to talk about MG’s design ideas and its evolving style.
Looking forward, MG Motor Malaysia will keep improving its network and aftersales services. They plan to open more MG 3S centres in Kuantan and Rawang, making it easier for customers in important areas to access their services.
Additionally, the brand is committed to high-quality aftersales support, with up to 11 body and paint facilities across the country, ensuring customers get excellent support during their ownership.
