Meta is launching a global anti-scams awareness campaign in Malaysia to help people stay safe online during the holiday season. This campaign features the latest safety tools launched on Facebook Marketplace, WhatsApp, and Instagram, along with new research into holiday scams that have been disrupted.
For Malaysia, the company’s commitment to safety includes the We Think Digital program, which empowers over 1,000 students from 150 schools with knowledge about scams. They’ve also hosted Creators IRL events, featuring influential content creators promoting online safety, and the #taknakscam initiative reaching millions through social channels.
Earlier this year, the company has launched a privacy education campaign on WhatsApp to promote tools like two-factor authentication.
“We are committed to protecting our community and ensuring a safe online environment for our users in Malaysia,” said Rafael Frankel, Public Policy Director, Southeast Asia. He emphasized the importance of vigilance during the holiday season to avoid scams.
