Maison Martell has recently launched the Martell Single Cru collection in Malaysia. This rare and prestigious collection represents less than 1% of Martell cognacs, aiming to reveal the richness and diversity of the finest crus. The collection is structured in three ascending editions, with each new release representing a fresh discovery of the House’s terroirs and an exploration of new taste sensations.
The Discovery Edition
The Discovery Edition offers an introduction to the main crus of Cognac, sourced from Fin Bois, Borderies, and Petite Champagne. Each cru is associated with a specific taste and aromatic profile, resulting from factors such as geographic location, soil composition, climate, and exposure. The Martell Single Cru Fins Bois invigorates the senses with lush, juicy fruit, while Martell Single Cru Petite Champagne is intense and spicy, bursting with warm spices and rich nuts. Martell Borderies rolls over the tongue with sweet fruit and subtle florals, leaving a delicious impression of fullness.
Aged Edition
The Martell Single Cru Aged Edition is a blend of eaux-de-vie from two exclusive Cognac terroirs, Borderies and Grande Champagne, selected by Jean Martell in the 18th century. The Aged Edition features eaux-de-vie that express the essence of each terroir and are remarkable for their age. The eaux-de-vie evolve throughout the ageing process, developing new organoleptic properties and reaching an exceptional aromatic richness for an XO and plenitude for an XXO. The Grande Champagne reveals the full potential of this terroir, with young eaux-de-vie exhibiting power and structure, while older eaux-de-vie offer notes of nuts, dried fruit, and wood, reaching a perfect balance between power and fruitiness. The Borderies XXO Borderies demonstrates incomparable richness and fullness, overflowing with luscious fruity notes.
Vintage Edition
Maison Martell’s Vintage Edition is a rare cognac that represents the encounter between a terroir and a year, with its specific climatic conditions. The Cellar Master’s savoir-faire focuses on revealing nature’s finest, purest, and rarest qualities at a given moment. Each year, a new cognac is added to the Vintage Edition, sourced from a single terroir in a single year. The vintage edition begins with a Borderies eau-de-vie from the Gallienne estate, produced in 1999 due to challenging climate conditions. After distillation, the eau-de-vie is aged in fine-grained oak barrels for 23 years to reach its aromatic plenitude. The vintage edition is presented in a precious, numbered bottle and is released in limited quantities for collectors.
Martell Single Cru
The Martell Single Cru collection showcases the unrivalled and uncompromising savoir-faire of the four finest terroirs in the Cognac region. Each cru has a distinct aromatic profile and ageing potential, linked to factors such as geographical situation, soil, climate, exposure, and grape quality. Maison Martell distils only clear wines and ages eaux-de-vie exclusively in fine-grained oak barrels, minimizing the impact of lees and wood. The collection consists of eaux-de-vie from Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Grand Champagne, each with distinct aromas and ageing potential. The crus are aged separately in Martell cellars to maintain the authentic expression of the different crus.
The Martell Single Cru Collection in Malaysia was officially launched at The Chamber Starhill, offering exclusive purchase access until 6 May 2024. The Discovery Edition and Aged Edition will be available nationwide, while the Vintage Edition will be released with limited units via Martell’s Prestige Manager. The Discovery Edition includes Martell Single Cru Fins Bois and Martell Single Cru Petite Champagne at RM 580 per bottle, while the Martell Borderies will be priced at RM 620 per bottle due to its rarity. The Aged Edition includes Martell Single Cru XO Grande Champagne and Martell Single Cru XXO Borderies at RM 1,440 and RM 2,830, respectively. The Martell Single Cru Borderies 1999, available in limited quantities, will be released in the Vintage Edition at RM 10,800.
