14 Lions Clubs in Selangor came together to distribute 3000 chickens to needy like childrens’ homes, old folks homes, refugee camp and shelther for orang Asli children. This largest hunger relief by Lions Clubs in Selangor was organised by Lions Club of Puchong and Sunway Damansara Metro.

“Malayan Flour Mills Bhd (MFM) has been participating in many Corporate Social Responsibility events since our inception in 1966 and this donation drive is a unique one. Seeing that many have been impacted by the pandemic, spearheaded by the HR department of MFM, a committee involving employees from different departments was established,” said Wong Kok Wai, General Manager, Supply Chain of MFM. He added, “Ayam Cares, Ayam Dindings, started by MFM Employees, their families and friends and our business partners donated generously to this cause.

“Hunger relief is one of the five major causes that Lions members around the world focus on annually. A project this massive today helps us serve and feed approximately 12000 people. This is a good collaboration and we hope that MFM and Lions Clubs around the country can work together to help the needy ones especially during these trying times.”, said Lion Loy Kwee Keow, 2nd Vice District Governor from Lions Club International District 308 B2.

“We always believe in synergy and working with companies in our quest for feeding the needy and gathering so many clubs today, within a span of 10 days only, was challenging but rewarding at the end of the day. The most important thing is seeing the happy smiles on the faces of those in need makes our day” said Project Organizing Chairperson, Lion Peter Lee from Lions Club of Puchong.

“In the last month alone, Lions in Selangor have given away 40000 masks to the public via the #LionsLawanCovid initiative; sent reconditioned iPads and vegetables to welfare homes as well as 5000 bottles of fruit juice for street feeding and delivered supplements for the front liners, and we are here today for an amazing hunger relief effort”, said Project CoOrdinator Lion Alan Thoo from Lions Club of Sunway Damansara Metro. “This massive arrangement would not have taken place if not for the MFM employees.” he added.

Lions members took the boxes of frozen chicken from MFM and delivered them to the welfare homes from Puchong all the way to Banting and Cheras.
