Korean Youth in Malaysia donates 1,500 Korean Books and Hallyu Cultural Items to local university college students learning Korean in Malaysia

Recently, the Korean Youth Sports Association in Malaysia (KYSM) donated 1,500 Korean-language books and 10 Hallyu cultural items to University College students studying Korean in Malaysia.

The donation drive took place on 22 June 2026 at Dongseo University Malaysia Learning Centre. Donated items included various Korean-language books for different age groups, Hanbok garments, traditional Korean games, and Hallyu cultural goods. The association prioritized books for middle school and higher, and only accepted Hanbok in good condition.

Seo Hwi-in (first-year student, Korea University), who represented the donors, expressed her hope that “these books will serve as a small stepping stone for friends in Malaysia who are studying the Korean language and culture.” She added, “Even from afar, I hope they can feel that hearts can be connected through a shared language and culture.”

Cho Chan-yang, Vice President of the Korean Sports Council in Malaysia, who organised the event, said, “This initiative goes beyond a simple act of donation — it is the seed of cultural exchange bridging Malaysia and Korea, as young people have taken it upon themselves to practise the spirit of giving and pass on the value of Korean culture to the next generation.”
