iQIYI’s high-quality content has once again achieved great success, taking home 5 award nominations at the 2023 Asian Television Awards, where Strange Legend of Tang Dynasty and Why Try to Change Me Now vie for the “Best Digital Fiction Programme/Series” award. Other series including Folk 2022 (我们民谣2022), Princess Doremi 3 and The Tales of Wonder Keepers 2 were also nominated for the “Best Music Programme” and “Best 3D Animated Programme” respectively.
Kelvin Yau, President of Asia Pacific, iQIYI, said: “iQIYI is committed to producing and promoting high-quality Asian content. Since the launch of the international version of the service in 2019, iQIYI’s diverse content such as drama series, movies, and variety shows have quickly gained support from the global audience. We are honoured to receive such an outstanding number of nominations at this year’s Asian Television Awards. We would like to thank the production teams and talents for their joint efforts. We would also like to thank all the judges for their recognition of iQIYI and the crew and everyone who has always supported our Chinese content.”
With the aid of tranquil cinematography and technique, Why Try To Change Me Now reflects the story of China in the 90s as it goes through an economic transformation and the sadness and joys of every other individual through the simple and sometimes crude reality, intervened by a sense of warmth that seeps through at times. It is also the first ever Chinese language series to have been nominated at the Berlinale Series competition segment.
Despite having no A-listers on its cast, Strange Legend of Tang Dynasty has emerged as a dark horse in 2022, receiving much success with its clear reasoning logic, excellent production quality, superb acting and a unique creativity that blends emotions and reasoning with a sense of wonder as our protagonists seek out the truth.
iQIYI also saw its non-drama series being nominated, including Princess Doremi 3 and The Tales of Wonder Keepers 2, contending for the “Best 3D Animated Programme” while Folk 2022 will be vying for the “Best Music Programme”.
All nominated series and programs are now streaming on iQIYI (www.iq.com & apps) .
