iQiyi reveals 2022 line-up of 26 new Chinese films

iQiyi is preparing to wowed Chinese film fans as they have announced their 2022 line-up of new Chinese films. The announcement brings together award-winning stars including Feng Xiaogang, Joan Chen, Simon Yam, Nick Cheung, Ethan Juan, Richie Jen, Wang Qianyuan and Wang Jingchun. Not forgetting fan favourites like Darren Wang, Li Wenhan, Oho Ou, Jason Gu and more. 

iQiyi has confirmed the line-up will consist of 26 new Chinese films cross seven genres including crime and suspense, heartwarming and inspirational, fantasy, romance, comedy, war and history, and animation. One of the upcoming crime genres that is expected to be a hit is titled Man on the Edge starring Richie Jen, Simon Yam, Alex Fong and Patrick Tam. The story follows an undercover cop investigating a Hong Kong drug trafficking ring. Meanwhile, action-packed show Wolf Hiding starring Nick Cheung, Ethan Juan and Darren Wang will bring viewers to the edge of their seat as the characters are caught in a clash of police and underworld forces, written based on real life narcotics stories.

There will be 26 brand new titles varying across seven genres including crime and suspense, heartwarming and inspirational, fantasy, romance, comedy, war and history, and animation. Directed by Wong Ming Sing and starring Richie Jen, Simon Yam and Patrick Tam, join the casts in an action-packed Hong Kong-styled police and gang face-off.

Wolf Hiding (Crime and suspense)
A clandestine gang is in disarray following the appearance of a mysterious person who disrupts and sparks the start of a new order.

Hovering Blade (Crime and suspense)
Adapted from a novel written by Japanese author Higashino Keigo, the story is brought to life by award-winning actors Wang Qianyuan and Wang Jingchun.

The Invisible Guest (Crime and suspense)
Adapted from a classic suspense film where the characters are put through epic twists and turns in the plot in order to unravel the hidden truth.

What Remains (Crime and suspense)
This show is based on an infamous European crime from the 90s.

The Lost Kids (Crime and suspense)
Based on real-life events, the film exposes what its like to be at an Internet addiction rehabilitation centre. It also aims to critique organisations operating against the law and zooms in on parent-children education.

Fading Shadow (Crime and suspense)
It follows a thrilling plot, revolving around a serial murder case that spans 17 years.

The Sniper (Crime and suspense)
Retired sniper Jin Tai meets and befriends rebellious youth Xiao Feng in a small town. As Xiao Feng plunges into a life-and-death crisis, this forces Jin Tai to pick up his sniper once again.

Raid on the Lethal Zone (Crime and suspense)
Based on real-life events, it follows the “8077” Special Forces of the Yunnan Frontier Armed Police in their perilous narcotics operations while fighting floods.

Mars Project (Sci-fi comedy)
An original sci-fi comedy by Ning Hao, it follows a group of nouveau riche attempting travel to Mars.

Sinkhole (Disaster, comedy)
The ordinary folks unite to save themselves in a disaster, by sharing their positive attitude and spirit.

Charging Out the Prisoner Camp (History and war)
Based on historical prisoner-of-war camp stories, featuring Li Dong Xue.

They Shall Not Pass (History and war)
Inspired by real-life Chinese Communist Party war resistance events and stars Li Youbin, Shi Lanya and Wang Tao.

Hachiko (Heartwarming and inspirational)
Chinese icon Feng Xiaogang unites with Joan Chen to star in the heartwarming tale of a loyal dog named Hachiko who waited 10-years for the return of its deceased owner.

PING-PONG OF CHINA (Heartwarming and inspirational)
This story follows Chinese table tennis athletes’ as they defend their nation’s glory. Written by the infamous writer Zhang Yi (LEAP, American Dreams in China).

The Apprentice of Mensa (Heartwarming and inspirational)
Two youths who are unrelated to each other leads five failed gamblers into a fightback.

The Home in the Tree 2 (Heartwarming and inspirational)
In the continuation to the first film, director Zhang Zhonghua works with the returning casts and explores teacher-student themes.

In Our Prime (Heartwarming and inspirational)
Showcases the true living conditions of a generation of young adults, this show focuses on their daily struggles as they try to make a living.

The Hidden Fox (Asian fantasy)
Adapted from Louis Cha’s novel, this film tells the story of a talented young swordsman Hu Fei who is seeking to avenge his father’s death by going undercover among the gang of Eight Villains.

Battle Through the Heavens (Asian fantasy)
Adapted from a novel, it tells the tale of a prodigious boy who despairs after numerous setbacks, but still manages to find hope.

Skin (Asian fantasy)
By the team behind Mortal Ouija (2019), this show follows demons who steal the bodies and lives of humans.

Meet You in the Best Time (Love and romance)
Follows the journey of a couple, starting from the first meet to a budding romance and then on to love and growth while facing life challenges.

Northeastern Bro (Love and romance)
A bittersweet comedy that follows a debt collector who falls for a debtor’s daughter, who he ultimately wins over with his kindness and perseverance.

The Mirage House in the Clouds (Animation film)
An animation film that brings together youths in fantasy battles.

Master Zhong (Animation film)
A girl meets Zhong Kui, a deity who vanquishes ghosts and demons. When they teamed up to solve mysterious cases, they soon discover a great conspiracy in the mortal realm.

The Big Band (Music and inspirational)
