Huawei has once again defied expectations with a remarkable comeback, reclaiming the title of China’s top smartphone brand in 2025, according to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC).
Reshaping the Market Landscape
The IDC Q4 and Full-Year 2025 Tracking Report indicates that Huawei experienced steady growth, shipping 46.7 million units for a 16.4% market share. Apple closely followed with 46.2 million units (16.2% market share). Vivo, Xiaomi, and OPPO secured the third to fifth spots, with other brands categorized as “Others.”
2025: A Year of Technological Breakthroughs
The past year was pivotal for Huawei, marked by an aggressive lineup of innovative devices, including new foldable notebooks and the Pura 80 and Mate 80 series, each with significant improvements in camera performance and technology.
Huawei’s advancements in Kirin chip technology also garnered attention. “The continuous improvement in Huawei’s in-house chip production was a key driver in 2025,” noted Will Wong, Senior Research Manager at IDC Asia-Pacific. The latest Kirin 9030 chip offered a notable performance boost, enhancing both hardware and software, which contributed to positive consumer business revenue.
These technological efforts helped Huawei surpass competitors in market share.
