iQIYI’s suspense drama In the Name of the Brother (哈尔滨1944), is currently streaming and feature amazing talented cast such as Qin Hao and Yang Mi.

The drama revolves on complex relationship dynamics between Qin Hao and Yang Mi’s characters, the enigmatic twin brothers portrayed by Qin Hao, and the uncertain fate of Yang Mi’s character. Qin Hao’s portrayal of a pair of twins—one light-hearted and the other dark, one scholarly and the other into martials—further exemplifies his versatile acting prowess. Adding to the excitement is Yang Mi’s return to playing an antagonist lead after 14 years since Detective Di Renjie – Prequel. Her character’s complex personality introduces numerous suspenseful elements to the show, elevating anticipation to new heights.

Let’s find out the three reasons to watch iQIYI’s In the Name of the Brother:

1. The star power of the main leads, Qin Hao and Yang Mi guarantees a high viewership

Qin Hao, renowned for his roles in The Bad Kids, The Long Season, and his recent hit Endless Journey, has solidified his position as a leading figure in suspense dramas. With his involvement, robust viewership is practically assured. Meanwhile, Yang Mi has ascended to iconic status, gracing numerous blockbuster series with her talent. In In the Name of the Brother, these two luminaries will navigate intricate layers of intrigue.

Reflecting on the opportunity to work with a well-crafted script, Yang Mi remarked, “A compelling script, rich character development, talented co-stars, and a supportive team are what truly inspire an actor to embrace a role. The foremost duty of any actor is to breathe life into their character; each role holds its own significance and narrative depth. In this era, genuine talent always shines, and the order of the casts name should always defer to the importance of the characters.” Qin Hao, in a livestream, also shared, “Mi-Jie is incredibly skilled at her craft; her addition promises a refreshing twist,” generating anticipation even before the series premiere.

2. Qin Hao’s adept portrayal of dual personas, effortlessly transitioning between brightness and darkness, highlights his mastery in the realm of acting

In In the Name of the Brother, Qin Hao brilliantly portrays the dual roles of brothers Song Zuowen and Song Zuowu. One epitomizes integrity, while the other delves into underworld activities, showcasing Qin Hao’s exceptional acting range. A voiceover in the trailer tantalizingly suggests, “One brother operates in the open, while the other conducts shady dealings in the shadows. Can anyone truly discern between them?” This sets the stage for a gripping mystery: who possesses the ability to differentiate them? As the twin brothers navigate a web of deception by assuming each other’s identities, their seamless transition between light and shadow raises compelling questions about the resilience of their fraternal bond, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

3. Yang Mi, the Femme Fatale: Enigmatic and Seductive, her life and death remain a mystery.

In In the Name of the Brother, Yang Mi embodies the role of Guan Xue, the formidable head of the Special Affairs Department. Cold-blooded and enigmatic, she exudes both danger and allure, earning her the reputation of a ruthless female agent. In the trailer, she exerts intense pressure and engages in calculated risks, culminating in the chilling declaration, “But if you dare cross me, I won’t spare you!” This portrayal of the fierce and stylish femme fatale, with her signature curly locks, subverts audience expectations. Heightening the suspense is a scene depicting a figure lying on a bed in a pool of blood, presumably Guan Xue, leaving viewers pondering the fate of Yang Mi’s character in the series.

In the Name of the Brother unfolds against the backdrop of the puppet state of Manchukuo on the brink of victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan. The narrative follows intelligence agent Song Zuowen (portrayed by Qin Hao), who is mistakenly perceived as a savior by Guan Xue (played by Yang Mi), the head of the Special Affairs Department. In order to carry out his covert operation, Song Zuowen infiltrates the Harbin Police Department’s Special Affairs Department, where he encounters numerous challenges from the cold-blooded and suspicious Guan Xue. Through determination and resilience, Song Zuowen gradually earns the trust of Guan Xue and high-ranking Japanese officials, ultimately paving the way for the decisive victory in the war.
