Hata Digital Sdn Bhd has become the first in the country to obtain Shariah certification for its platform. This achievement highlights Malaysia’s leadership in the Islamic finance market, recently reaffirmed in the 2025 Global Islamic Finance Development Index.
In 2025, Hata processed over RM1.04 billion in transactions, with peak fiat deposits of RM28.7 million. Following an assessment by Amanie Advisors Sdn Bhd, the platform was found to align with Shariah principles, including its governance framework and various services. As the global Islamic fintech market is expected to grow significantly, Hata’s Shariah-compliant infrastructure positions Malaysia as a leader in ethical digital finance.

David Low, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hata, said, “When we first launched Hata, many of our Muslim users told us how important it was for them to have access to a platform that aligns with Shariah principles. We took that seriously and made a deliberate commitment to build a platform that meets those expectations.”
He added, “Today, we are proud that Hata has become the first DAX in Malaysia to obtain Shariah certification. This is a meaningful milestone for us, for our users, and for the future of regulated digital assets in Malaysia. It reflects our commitment to building a platform that is trusted, inclusive and aligned with the values of the communities we serve.”
“This milestone is not just a win for Hata. It is also a contribution to Malaysia’s wider ambition of strengthening its leadership in Islamic finance and digitising the global Islamic economy. By bringing together regulated digital assets and Shariah principles, we hope to help expand access to ethical financial innovation for both retail and institutional participants,” he said.

“We are proud to support Hata in achieving this significant milestone as Malaysia’s first Shariah-compliant digital asset platform. Following a comprehensive review, we are satisfied that the platform meets established Shariah requirements across its operations and offerings. This achievement marks an important step forward in bridging digital assets with Shariah principles and we believe it will help build greater trust and inclusive digital asset ecosystem. We hope it will contribute positively to the growth and confidence of the Islamic digital asset landscape.” Said Suhaida Mahpot, CEO of Amanie Advisors.
As the digital asset industry matures, Hata’s Shariah-compliant platform signifies a new step in building sustainable digital wealth. By merging ethical principles with a regulated exchange, Hata demonstrates that world-class fintech innovation can thrive in Malaysia. This milestone reinforces Hata’s commitment to empowering Malaysians and institutions to confidently engage in the global digital economy, promoting a more inclusive financial ecosystem.
