Google Search now has AR insects that crawling with fun

Always wanted to play insects but you’re afraid of them in real life or perhaps you can’t find them nearby? With the power of Augmented Reality (AR), you can now observe the insects without leaving the indoors or having to actually touch them. All you need to start enjoying the experience is a smartphone and Google/Chrome app installed.

How to enjoy the AR experience?

On Android, search for “insects” or one of the 23 insects’ names on the Google app or any Android browser and tap “View in 3D.” You can see 3D content on devices running with Android 7 and above and you can see AR content on ARCore-enabled devices. Easily explore all insects using the carousel format. On Android devices, turn up your volume for calming ambient sounds of them hovering around you.

On iOS, search for “insects” or one of the 23 insects on the Google app or on Google.com with Chrome or Safari. 3D and AR content is available on devices running iOS 11 and above.

Expect up to 23 creepy crawlies in the AR experience, which includes the: Atlas beetle, atlas moth, brown cicada, dragonfly, evening cicada, firefly, giant stag, grasshopper, Hercules beetle, hornet, jewel beetle, ladybug, mantis, Miyama stag beetle, morpho butterfly, periodical cicada, robust cicada, rosalia batesi, rhinoceros beetle, shining ball scarab beetle, stag beetle, swallowtail butterfly, and Walker’s cicada. That’s a lot of insects!
