Global notebook shipments record double digits growth in Q2 2021 despite chip shortages; Lenovo leads

Looks like the global notebook (or laptops to some) market is strong as a new report by Strategy Analytics shows global notebook shipments reached 65.6 million units in Q2 2021. The Q2 2021 result is up 15% compared to Q2 2020 and down -4% from 68.2 million in Q1 2021 due to some parts of the world prepare to either go back to office or adopt a hybrid work system due to uncertainty in many markets. The reports suggests that commercial customers preparing to return to work and upgrading towards more mobility (desktop to notebook PC) were the main driving factors for commercial demand.

The report by Strategy Analytics also highlighted the top 5 vendors for the global notebook shipments. Lenovo grab the first place with a whopping 15.5 million units in Q2 2021 with a 14% growth from the 13.6 million shipped the year prior. The remaining vendors are HP at second spot, Dell at 3rd, Apple and Acer snatched the fourth and fifth place respectively.
