Firstly, the “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
The cast will be lead by Diego Luna as Andor along with Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. The creator/showrunner for the series is Tony Gilroy.
Tony mentioned in his global press conference that there are a lot of characters in the show as they are going to be circulating and spinning and intersecting around the Cassian Andor story as it heading towards Rogue One. He continues to mentioned that the how is important for the Star Wars history as it portrays the a lot of people are facing a lot of really difficult times and difficult decisions along the way.
For Diego, he was interested on his character’s journey as Andor started to fight since he was six years old. His character also talks about a dark past and doing terrible stuff for the Rebellion which also made Diego think which made the story to be interesting.
Genevieve also return for the series as Mon Mothma. Genevieve believes that the audience will be to see the woman behind the Senator role and a private face of Mon Mothma.
Andor will be premiering on 21 September 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar.
