
Garmin Malaysia has announced the return of Garmin Run Asia Series 2022 – Malaysian Marathon, with the tagline of ‘Zero to Hero’. After three years of hiatus, the Garmin Run Asia Series offers 4 race categories ranging from 5km, 10km, 21km and a full marathon at 42 km. Held on the 11th September 2022 at Dataran Kehakiman Putrajaya, the event will now provides participants with the option of joining physically or virtually at a registration fee starting from an early-bird pricing of RM 55.00.

In conjunction of the marathon, Garmin Malaysia is introducing a grand lucky draw and additional bi-weekly competition with a year’s worth of sponsored Garmin products worth RM 10,000.00 ready to be won. Others can stand a chance to win free race slots at the marathon, Garmin merchandise, Garmin smartwatches, sponsored products and more during the bi-weekly draw. However, you need to sign-up as the winner will be selected arbitrarily via lucky draw during the event day itself where winners are required to present their race bib during the announcement.
To participate in the bi-weekly lucky draw, you can access the Garmin Malaysia social media, like and share the post, and finally leave a comment explaining why he or she would like to be part of the Garmin Run Asia Series 2022 and tag three friends.
The Garmin Run Asia Series Marathon is open to applicants as young as 5 years old for the 5km category whereas the 10km category is open to 13 years and above. Meanwhile the half and full marathon categories (21km & 42km) are open to adults ages 18 – 39 years old and 40 years above for the Malaysian Senior Open categories. The half and full races are categorised according to age groups, sex and to local and international runners with respective entitlements and cash prizes across selected categories.


The early bird registration fees for each category are: RM 55 for 5km, RM 60 for 10km, RM 70 for 21km and RM 80 for 42km. Exclusively for sign-ups from 12 May – 11 June 2022, the fees are discounted to encourage participants to secure their slots early. The registration for the races
would continue from 12 June – 31 July 2022 with a normal registration fee of: RM 70 for 5km, RM 75 for 10km, RM 85 for 21km and last but not least, RM 95 for 42km.
Foreign applicants are welcome to register at different rates in USD. All registrations are not inclusive of Group Personal Accident Insurances and delivery fees. For safety, children between ages 5 – 12 years must be accompanied by an adult participant of the same category.

As for the virtual marathon, participants may use any running tracking application or devices to measure their running progress outdoors. Such apps would include but are not limited to the Garmin app, Strava, Nike and more. Pedometers and treadmills are strictly not allowed. Virtual runners can run anytime and anywhere from the 1st of September until the end of the month but would be required to complete their 5 – 10 km race in one go. However, for participants in the half and full marathon category, they can accumulate their run with a minimum of 10 km per attempt/result.
Participants across all race categories will receive multiple entitlements in the form of finisher medals, event tees (dry fit) and race bibs. Those taking part in the half and full marathon will receive marathon finisher t-shirts and cash prizes.


An e-certificate will also be presented to those who finish the 10km, 21km and 42km races. Meanwhile, cash prizes will be awarded ranging from RM 300 to RM 800 for runners within the 21 km race category and RM 500 to RM 1000 for the 42 km category respectively.
