CelcomDigi and Huawei Malaysia join forces for an AI-driven 5G Network

CelcomDigi and Huawei Malaysia have signed an MoU to incorporate AI into CelcomDigi’s network, aiming to create one of Malaysia’s most intelligent 4G and 5G networks.

The collaboration will focus on implementing AI in CelcomDigi’s Radio Access Network, termed “IntelligentRAN.” This involves digital twin systems for experimenting with new network models, proactive network management through advanced analytics, and intelligent network service provisioning to enhance customer experience. AI and automation will enhance network productivity and innovation, particularly as networks become more complex.

Digital twins will enable large-scale simulations before live implementation, speeding up innovation at lower costs with minimal customer disruption. Proactive network management will ensure consistent customer experience, while intelligent 4G and 5G resource orchestration will enable personalized wireless services.

CelcomDigi’s CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi emphasized the country’s potential in 5G and AI and their commitment to building an advanced network to cater to the digital era. Huawei’s CEO Mr Simon Sun highlighted Malaysia’s readiness for network intelligence and their vision to create intelligent networks across the country. The collaboration will also explore leveraging cross-domain data convergence to enhance customer and service lifecycle management, ensure proactive user experience, and support digital transformation across network operations.

Under the collaboration, CelcomDigi and Huawei Malaysia will also explore jointly leveraging cross-domain data convergence from Huawei platforms to gain a comprehensive view of the customer and service lifecycle, enable proactive user experience management and support seamless digital transformation across the company’s network operations.
