Bolt gains 540% surge in Driver Partners after debuting in Malaysia; introduces Bolt Executive, offers activation bonus to help drivers offset PSV licensing costs and daily engagement campaigns designed to maximise earnings

Bolt has experienced remarkable growth in Malaysia by achieving a 540% increase in driver-partners and a 280% rise in registered passengers within three months of launching in the Klang Valley. This quick adoption has greatly improved service efficiency, reducing average arrival times (ETA) by half, providing faster, more reliable rides for passengers while upholding Bolt’s focus on a driver-first, affordable, and smooth ride-hailing experience.

Afzan Lutfi, General Manager Malaysia at Bolt “The response to Bolt in Malaysia has been incredible. In just three months, we’ve seen strong demand for a ride-hailing platform that puts drivers first, offers fairer earnings, and delivers better experiences for passengers. Our rapid growth shows that drivers are embracing the flexibility and earning potential that Bolt provides, while passengers enjoy faster, more affordable trips with toll charges included in fares for a smoother and more transparent experience.. The introduction of Bolt Executive is a natural next step as we continue to expand our offerings, giving passengers more choice and creating new income opportunities for drivers. We’re just getting started, and we’re excited to grow alongside our partner drivers and passengers as we shape the future of ride-hailing in Malaysia.

Empowering Drivers with Fairer Earnings and Greater Flexibility

Bolt is a platform designed for drivers, and it started with one of the lowest commission rates in the market at 15%—compared to the usual 20%—helping drivers keep more of their earnings. Since it began, over MYR 22.8 million has been paid to drivers, showing that Bolt supports their livelihoods and helps them earn better incomes.**

Bolt also values flexibility, giving partner drivers complete control over the trips they accept, allowing them to manage their schedules and earnings better. Drivers can pick their own trips, ensuring they choose rides that fit their preferences and availability.

To further support drivers, Bolt offers an attractive activation bonus of RM200 upon completing 30 rides in 60 days, which can help new e-hailing drivers offset PSV licensing costs. Additionally, Bolt’s driver engagement campaigns are structured on a daily basis, allowing drivers to earn consistently without being tied to long-hour commitments. This driver-first approach has been a key factor in Bolt’s rapid expansion, attracting those looking for a fairer, more rewarding ride-hailing experience.

Expanding Service Offerings with Bolt Executive

Bolt Malaysia has introduced Bolt Executive, a new ride category for passengers wanting a premium experience. This service uses luxury MPVs, specifically Toyota Vellfires and Toyota Alphards. This expansion shows Bolt’s dedication to meeting different passenger needs and providing new earning opportunities for partner drivers.
