BMW Malaysia recently held the Secret Garage @ M Town to launch four new M models; BMW M8 Coupé, M8 Gran Coupé, X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition. The four new models made their first debut in Malaysia with the powerful M DNA to satisfy the Malaysian clients who requires high performance models.
BMW M8 Coupé & M8 Gran Coupé: High-performance while maintaining the luxury
With the BMW M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé is available in Malaysia, it is now completely powered by a redesigned high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. This engine is known as the S63, the most powerful BMW M engine ever built for a production model. The performance output is rated at 441 kW/600 hp and peak torque of 750 Nm at 1,800 – 5,600 rpm. BMW said it can even goes from 0-100km/h in merely 3.3 seconds and with a top speed of 250 km/h (limited). Power is transmitted via a new eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé also spots M xDrive all-wheel drive system and M-specific integrated brake system
On the exterior of the M8, both model comes with slender BMW Laserlights with high-beam assistant, M-specific front apron, along with the BMW kidney grille featuring M-specific decorative mesh, double slats, M8 designation and exterior mirrors with the characteristic M twin-stalk design. Towards the rear, both models sport the M rear spoiler, as well as M-specific M8 rear diffuser and M-specific exhaust system with twin tailpipes and chrome trims. M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé include the soft-close function for doors and carbon roof made of self-coloured carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) that saves weight and lowers the vehicles’ centre of gravity. 20-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 810 M Bicolour with mixed tyres and the automatic tailgate operation are also available.
The cockpit is even better as it features a sporty, low seating position with illuminated M logo, full-leather dashboard and door trim panels. Other highlights include the M-specific gearshift lever knob, M seat belts and the 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system with 464-watt amplifier power. The infotainment systems are equipped with an all-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a high-resolution 10.25-inch Control Display and a full-colour Head-Up Display with additional M-specific displays.
Colours option are offered in seven alluring colours, namely Alpine White, Brands Hatch Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Motegi Red, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey and Barcelona Blue. Both interiors will be furnished with the Merino Leather offering in either Black or Silverstone. An exclusive BMW M8 Coupe in BMW Individual Frozen Bluestone exterior is now available for purchase at an additional RM 30,000. This model is currently limited to only one unit in Malaysia.
BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition: High Performance SUV
The BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition now feature adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant, along with full-LED taillights as standard. They also run on 21-inch bicolour M light alloy wheels and are equipped with Adaptive M suspension. Black kidney grille surrounds, side gills and wing mirror caps are also standard to the models. The X3 M Competition features a slim diffuser in high-gloss Black and an M-specific roof spoiler while the X4 M Competition, on the other hand, features a black aerodynamic spoiler at the rear.
Both models is using the new three-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine will dispense 375kW / 510hp and peak torque of 600Nm at 2,600 – 5,950 rpm. 0-100km/h is 4.1 seconds and can hit a top speed of 250km/h (limited). Power is transmitted via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
For the interior, front passengers are greeted with entry sills bearing the M model designation and comfortable front seats with active seat ventilation and lumbar support. Special trim levels also reflect their superior performance, along with the M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, red M Drive buttons, and a red Start/Stop button. Further M-specific highlights found in the new BMW M models include interior trim finishers ‘Carbon Fibre’, decorative seams in BMW M colours, M seatbelts, M pedals, along with a M-specific instrument cluster, and knee pads.
The advanced infotainment systems available within the new BMW M models are the 10.25-inch Control Display that can be operated via the iDrive controller, by touch, and the BMW Gesture Control. There is a Harman Kardon surround-sound system with 600W amplifier power, nine channels and 16 speakers provide endless in-car entertainment on both models. Both SUV also comes intelligent assistance systems such as the Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus.
Colour offerings for the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey and the new Toronto Red. Depending on the selected exterior offering, the new models can be furnished with exquisite Leather Merino interior upholstery in Black, Sakhir Orange or Adelaide Grey.
The four models are available since at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 14th August 2020. Customers can also book the new BMW M models on http://www.shop.bmw.com.my/ at RM5,000 each and be in the running to bring home a new BMW i8 Coupé.
