BMW Group Malaysia retains as Malaysia’s leading premium automaker and electric vehicle provider for 2024

BMW Group Malaysia finished 2024 with impressive business results, delivering over 13,500 vehicles from BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad. Out of these, 66% were made locally, securing their top position as Malaysia’s Number One Premium Automaker for another year.

In their push for electric vehicles, BMW Group Malaysia remained the Number One Premium Electric Vehicle Provider, with over 2,700 electric cars delivered, making up 20.5% of all their deliveries for the year. This added to nearly 33,000 electrified vehicles on the road to date.

During 2024, the BMW brand delivered over 10,500 vehicles, while MINI delivered more than 1,400. BMW Motorrad saw more than 1,600 motorcycles delivered, matching their performance from 2023.

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, noted that the past year was exceptional, reflecting their focus on innovation and leadership in the premium car market. He emphasized their commitment to Malaysia’s local automotive industry and their position as the top electric vehicle provider.

He also mentioned their strategy of offering customers choices, whether it’s fully electric cars, hybrids, or traditional engines, and their belief that innovation should bring freedom and flexibility.

Globally, BMW Group delivered over 2,450,000 vehicles in 2024, with a 13.5% increase in fully electric cars, totaling over 426,000 deliveries worldwide.

Shaping Electrified Excellence for Malaysia.

After strong growth in 2023, BMW Group Malaysia continued to perform well in 2024, with over 2,700 electric vehicles delivered. They introduced 27 new models, including 12 fully electric ones. The First-Ever BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport was among the highlights, recording more than 460 deliveries in its first 9 months. The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport followed closely, with over 400 units sold.

BMW Group Malaysia expanded its charging network, opening new facilities in key areas to support electric vehicle owners. They now have over 2,020 charging points available through partnerships with various providers, including Gentari and ChargEV.

Leading the Premium Segment with Growth, Innovation, and Customer Trust.

BMW’s success in 2024 included over 3,600 deliveries of the popular BMW X range, with the locally assembled BMW X1 sDrive20i being the best-seller at nearly 1,500 units, achieving a 195% increase compared to 2023. The BMW 3 Series also performed well, with over 2,700 units sold.

MINI Malaysia had a great year with the launch of the New MINI Family, including the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4, which sold over 320 units in just 7 months.

BMW Motorrad thrived too, with over 760 new Adventure motorcycles delivered. The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure led this category with over 300 units sold.

Additionally, BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia financed over 4,500 vehicles, with 46% being fully electric or hybrids. The group’s customer service earned high scores, maintaining high standards across BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad.

In November 2024, the BMW Group celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Malaysia, highlighting Malaysia’s role as a key logistics hub in the Asia Pacific region, with significant improvements to the facility to support sustainability efforts.
