You may have seen this year that there’s numerous premium smartphone in the market. One would expect that a premium smartphone would top the sales in the worldwide market. However, a recent research by Strategy Analytics, it shows numerous 5 out of top 6 best selling Android smartphone for Q1 2020 is mid-range smartphone.

Pulling on top is Samsung Galaxy A51 with a healthy 2.3 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally in the quarter. Samsung’s A51 smartphone is popular in all regions, particularly across Europe and Asia. The GALAXY S20+ held third position with 1.7 percent share, the only super-premium model appearing in our top-six ranking. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A10s is ranked at fourth position with a 1.6 percent market share and Samsung Galaxy A20s is ranked at sixth position with 1.4 percent market share in the first quarter of 2020. This means Samsung took four places in the Top 6 best selling smartphone for Q1 2020. Pretty much a good news for the Korean company with the current situation.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 was placed second and fifth respectively. According to the research, Redmi smartphone range is selling very well in India and China and increasingly across Europe. Overall, the positive growth is most likely due to smartphone consumers globally are becoming increasingly price-sensitive and looking for new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck. Not only that, mobile operators have reduced subsidies in recent years thus making lesser interest on premium smartphone selection.
