One Cool Film Production has officially announced the shooting of Behind The Shadows 尾隨 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia featuring Louis Koo 古天樂, Chrissie Chau 周秀娜, Liu Kuan-ting 劉冠廷, Raymond Wong 黃浩然, Renci Yeung 楊偲泳, Cheung Siu-Fai 張兆輝, along with Malaysian artists Yumi Wong 黃詩棋, Kwan Ter-Hwei 關德輝 and Phei Yong 培永. The film is currently shooting at an undisclosed location in Kuala Lumpur and it is expected to wrap up shooting in mid-October.
As One Cool Film Malaysia was launched in April this year, the company launches Behind The Shadows 尾隨 as their first movie and is co-invested by Wishart Culture Media and co-produced by Filmforce Studio Malaysia. The movie has begin shooting last week and it is expected to conclude in mid-October. Behind the Shadows will involve almost 100 Malaysian movie stars and crew as One Cool Film Malaysia begins to develop the market in Malaysia.
The movie revolves around a half-baked private detective who is dealing with a real crime case for the first time and an unpredictable cold-blood hunter who enjoys preying. The story develops when the “stalking” of the hunter begins. Louis Koo portrays a private detective in Behind the Shadows who is the estranged husband of Chrissie Chau. While investigating an adultery case, he was threatened by the subject of the investigation, which landed him in a murder case.
58th Golden Bell Awards best leading actor in miniseries nominee Liu Kuan-ting plays one the key roles in the movie; Raymond Wong stars opposite Renci Yeung while veteran actor Cheung Siu-fai plays as Louis Koo’s friend who is also a private detective. Meanwhile, Malaysian YouTuber Phei Yong plays a detective agency employee, who will act alongside Louis Koo.
The movie is co-directed by the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards Best New Director nominee Jonathan Li and Sons of the Neon Night’s writer Chou Man-Yu and produced produced by Cheang Pou-Sui.
The movie signifies the extended collaboration between Hong Kong and Malaysia film industries, including the cooperation of the talents from both countries, in producing high quality movies that will subsequently bring new development opportunities to the industry.
Behind The Shadows is expected to hit the silver screen in the summer of 2024.
