ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially debuted its 2024 laptop lineup, Zephyrus and Strix gaming laptops at CES 2024. The Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 now gets a completely redesigned with all-aluminum and ultra-sleek chassis designs. The ROG Strix family has also been revamped, with both the SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 now offering Nebula HDR panels featuring Mini LED backlights with over 2,000 dimming zones, marking the first time a Nebula HDR display has been available in an 18-inch form factor.
As most 2024 laptops are featuring AI capabilities, the ROG 2024 laptops is joining the fray as well thanks to the latest CPUs and GPUs from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA with AI acceleration built-in, enabling seamless use of the latest technology locally on the machine. The new laptop gets a vatiey of AI feature such as from Microsoft Copilot in Windows, an everyday AI companion across many Windows 11 apps, to video conferencing tools like dynamic backgrounds and automatic gaze correction, to rendering technology like NVIDIA DLSS and Frame Generation.
The latest silicone from Intel and AMD doesn’t stop at providing the latest in AI advancements, but improved performance and power efficiency as well. Also, NVIDIA RTX Laptop GPUs are packed with specialized AI Tensor Cores enabling unmatched AI performance in creative apps, ultra-efficient productivity, blistering-fast gaming, and more.Â
Zephyrus G14 and G16
The latest Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 gets a complete redesign for 2024, offering thinner and lighter than ever. With the all-new Slash Lighting array across the lid, gamers can easily reflect their unique style with customizable lighting patterns and ensure that their machine never looks like anything else in the room. The latest Zephyrus laptops will comes in two colours, traditional Eclipse Gray or the all-new Platinum White, as the premium matte finish of these machines simply oozes luxury. ROG also claimed that Zephyrus G14 is weighing in at just 1.5 kg and 1.59 cm thick, and the Zephyrus G16 weighing 1.85 kg at 1.49 cm thick. Both models are shipped with three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Â
Both models are the first ROG laptops to feature a Nebula Display with an OLED panel. ROG is also proud to announce that they are leading the market with one of the first G-SYNC OLED displays available on a gaming laptop. ROG collaborated with NVIDIA and Samsung Display to refine the refresh rate and sync the processes of this panel, making this previously impossible feature available on a gaming laptop for the first time. This display increases the pixel emission rate to 960 Hz, far higher than a standard OLED panel.
The 2024 Zephyrus G14 is paired with the latest AMD Ryzen 8000 Series processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. Making sure the device is operating at optimal temps, the Zephyrus G14 features Thermal Grizzly liquid metal on the CPU, a tri-fan cooling solution, and 2nd Gen Arc Flow Fans, bringing incredible gaming and content creation performance in a supremely thin-and-light laptop chassis. Raising the bar even higher, select models of the Zephyrus G16 feature an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 185H and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Sporting a custom vapor chamber and dual-fan design, the Zephyrus G16 brings flagship levels of gaming and content creation performance to an ultra-portable chassis just 1.49 cm thick.
ROG Strix gets new CPUs and ROG Nebula HDR DisplaysÂ
This year marks the introduction of the first 18-inch ROG Nebula HDR Display. The arrival of the 2024 Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 now offers the upgraded Mini LED panels now boasting over 2,000 discrete dimming zones and 1,100 nits of peak brightness. This increased density coupled with the ROG Nebula HDR Engine minimizes blooming and haloing even in challenging scenes, giving the Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 incredibly vivid HDR performance. Â
While the ROG Nebula HDR panels exclusive to the Strix SCAR line are truly spectacular, all the displays available in the 2024 Strix family are visually stunning. Each model offers a 2.5K 240 Hz refresh rate panel with a less than 3 ms gray-to-gray response time, giving gamers an exceptional visual experience. For further immersion, these panels have an extra tall 16:10 aspect ratio and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. No matter which Strix machine a gamer chooses, they will have a panel that will make all their games and content more vivid and immersive than ever before.
