Apple TV becomes exclusive new broadcast partner for F1 in the US from 2026 onwards

Apple and Formula 1 today announced a five-year partnership to bring all F1 races exclusively to Apple TV in the United States starting next year. This collaboration follows the success of F1 The Movie, setting a strong foundation for Formula 1’s growth in the U.S.

Apple TV will offer comprehensive coverage of all practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix for subscribers, with select races and practice sessions available for free in the Apple TV app. The partnership will also extend to Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. The Apple Sports app will provide live updates, leaderboards, and widgets for the iPhone Home Screen.

F1 TV Premium will still be available in the U.S. via Apple TV subscription and will be free for subscribers.

“We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and offer Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. front-row access to one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sports on the planet,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services. “2026 marks a transformative new era for Formula 1, from new teams to new regulations and cars with the best drivers in the world, and we look forward to delivering premium and innovative fan-first coverage to our customers in a way that only Apple can.”

“This is an incredibly exciting partnership for Apple and the whole of Formula 1 that will ensure we can continue to maximize our growth potential in the U.S. with the right content and innovative distribution channels,” said Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1’s president and CEO. “We are no strangers to each other, having spent the past three years working together to create F1 The Movie, which has already proven to be a huge hit around the world. We have a shared vision to bring this amazing sport to our fans in the U.S. and entice new fans through live broadcasts, engaging content, and a year-round approach to keep them hooked. I want to thank Tim Cook, Eddy Cue, and the entire Apple team for their vision and passionate approach to delivering this partnership, and we are looking forward to the next five years together.”

Additional information about production details and ways for fans to enjoy F1 content on Apple products will be shared soon.

F1 The Movie will be available for streaming on Apple TV starting Friday, December 12, 2025. Since its release in theaters this summer, it has been very successful, making over $629 million worldwide. The film is now the highest-grossing sports movie and the top original feature film of the year. It also had the largest opening weekend for a new live-action film in the U.S. in the past five years, and it’s Brad Pitt’s most successful film so far. It received an “A” CinemaScore and a 97 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, earning praise as the most realistic racing film ever made.

Produced by Apple Studios, F1 The Movie is directed by Jerry Bruckheimer and Kosinski, along with contributions from seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Chad Oman.

Formula 1 is one of the fastest-growing sports leagues globally, with a fanbase in the U.S. reaching 52 million in 2024. The 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey, conducted with Motorsport Network, revealed that 47 percent of newer U.S. Formula 1 fans, who have followed the sport for five years or less, are between 18 and 24 years old, and more than half are women.
