The Vios HEV lineup uses Toyota’s proven Hybrid Electric System, making it the best entry point for first-time buyers, upgraders, and mass-market customers. The Vios HEV lineup’s hybrid battery comes from UMWT’s hybrid battery assembly line at its Bukit Raja facility, which can produce up to 30,000 battery units annually and assembles 97% of battery components locally, reducing secondary COâ‚‚ emissions associated with import logistics while improving production flexibility to meet growing demand for hybrid vehicles.
The high-precision assembly line includes intelligent systems, automated inspections, sound-checkers, battery testing, and full traceability, ensuring batteries meet Toyota’s Quality, Durability, and Reliability (QDR) standards. Additionally, this initiative generates high-value jobs, enhances local skills in electrification, and strengthens Malaysia’s role in the regional automotive value chain.
Efficient Hybrid Performance for Everyday Driving
The heart of the Vios HEV is Toyota’s Hybrid Electric System, a combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor generator and a compact lithium-ion battery.
The electric motor provides 80 PS and 141 Nm of torque, enabling quick acceleration from a stop. The engine and motor switch seamlessly, resulting in a combined output of 111 PS and a fuel consumption of 3.6L/100km.
The self-charging hybrid system allows for electric driving at low speeds in traffic and recharges the battery using regenerative braking, resulting in quieter operation, better efficiency, and lower emissions—especially in city driving.

The interior features a 10.1-inch Display Audio system and 7-inch hybrid-specific Multi-Information Display for monitoring energy flow and battery status.
