2025 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur sets to bring 6 Japanese tuning legends, exotic iconic builds from Japan, cheaper tickets and more

2025 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur will be held from 8-10 August at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The announcement event confirms the attendance of six Japanese automotive legends and icons, the arrival of several iconic builds from Japan, a showcase of Malaysia’s best tuners and a lower ticket price of only RM48 per day.

Returning to Malaysia will be Top Secret’s Smokey Nagata, Liberty Walk’s Wataru Kato, Isami Amemiya of RE Amemiya, KUHL Racing’s Takahiro Kataoka, and J’S Racing’s Hisaaki Murakami. Also back after his first visit in 2024 is Hiroshi Tamura, the father of the modern GT-R.

Fans can expect displays and merchandise from Top Secret, Liberty Walk, KUHL Racing, J’S Racing, and Veilside. Top Secret will showcase the VR32 Stealth Nissan GT-R, the only one of its kind, featuring a 3.8-litre R35 engine with 1072 horsepower.

Liberty Walk will present the Ferrari F40, known for its wide arches and modifications, and the Super Silhouette ER34, inspired by the KDR30 Skyline from the 1982-1983 Super Silhouette Formula race series.

A standout model will be the CREWCH Delusion GT-R R356C, introduced by CREWCH at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. This concept imagines a new version of the GT-R with a fresh design inspired by supercars.

For rotary engine enthusiasts, RE Amemiya will present the MATSUKIYO KIZAMI 3ROTAR NA-7. It is powered by a RE20B engine, has a displacement of 1962cc, and produces 435 horsepower. This car also made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025, featuring almost entirely new custom bodywork, with only the roof coming from a FD RX-7 donor car.

Another debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 will be the ALESS Century Complete WL. This powerful sedan, boasting 518 horsepower from its 4960cc engine, showcases the height of Japanese luxury, enhanced by ROZEL’s stylish 4-piece aero kit and air suspension system.

“One of the most daunting tasks we face every year is the selection of special cars to be brought in from Japan. To be honest there are a lot, but again this also depends on the availability as many of these top tier cars are on tour to be showcased at shows worldwide,” said Element X Strategies Director and Chief Executive Officer Jason Yap. “And so it is always a fine juggling act between bringing in the most talked about car in the world and the most recently displayed at Tokyo Auto Salon this year.”

TASKL25 is licensed and modeled after the renowned Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. Hosted in Malaysia by Element X Strategies, the show is a collaboration with San Ei Corporation, the owner of the Tokyo Auto Salon intellectual property. So far, more than 90,000 visitors have attended the shows in 2023 and 2024.

On the lower ticket prices, Yap said: “The interest has been phenomenal over the first two years. However, we want to make the show even more accessible to car fans, enthusiasts, families and the masses to enjoy one of the most exciting tuner and performance car shows in the country.

“TASKL is equally gaining traction amongst tuners in Japan. There is also a good reason why personalities like Smokey Nagata and Hiroshi Tamura keep returning to Malaysia and this is because they are equally amazed and excited with Malaysia’s tuning scene.”

TASKL25 will introduce a new feature this year called Malaysia’s Finest Tuners (MFT). This area will celebrate and showcase top Malaysian car tuners, connecting them with Japanese tuners to explore new opportunities. The event will be even more thrilling with a car styling competition judged by Japanese tuners, gatherings of car clubs, and a section displaying some of Malaysia’s rarest cars. For diecast collectors, TASKL25 will release a limited number of Toyota Supra MK4 chase and super chase cars at the show. This is in addition to the special Matte Frost Yellow Toyota Supra MK4 edition that was launched for sale last month, priced at RM135.

In partnership with The Model Car Show Malaysia (TMCS), fans and collectors can look forward to a Mini TAS, a special area for diecast displays and sales.

TASKL25 will also include unique themed zones like Sakura Street & Midnight Tokyo, live performances, Japan A Girls, a two-hour endurance race using simulators by RaceRoom, a Car-Meets-Cosplay competition, and a meet and greet with racing driver Zen Low, who is also an AUTOBACS Ambassador. Malaysian artist Zameer Pentbrush will showcase his skills in a live demo supported by Castrol, and there will be a lucky draw for a motorcycle donated by EXN Lubricants.

For the first time, TASKL25 is joining forces with the Equestrian Association of Malaysia and LEXUS to participate in the Prime Minister Cup CSI1* Presented by Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2025. This event, part of the Sea Games Qualifiers Round 4, will take place from 25-27 July 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club.

This partnership shows a shared love for precision, power, and elegance, qualities that are important in both equestrian sports and the automotive world. It combines luxury living with high performance in a smooth way.

Leading up to TASKL25, the Malaysia GT-R Festival will happen at Gamuda Cove’s Experience Gallery on 2 August. The event will include a meet and greet with Tamura, an autograph signing, and a group photo opportunity. At the Malaysia GT-R Festival, there will also be awards for Best Tuning, Best Design, and Tamura’s Choice of GT-R. For RM399, GT-R owners can enjoy the following benefits:
