Proton has officially launched the 2025 Proton X70 and now has received a major update 68 months after its debut. The new model features updated exterior styling, enhanced interior equipment, and upgraded ADAS level 2 safety technology. It is also equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for the first time.
The Proton X70 has been a top choice in the Malaysian premium SUV segment, with over 100,000 units sold and seven prestigious awards won. Its global counterpart, the Geely Boyue, has seen success worldwide with over 1.8 million units sold in 49 countries.
The launch of the 2025 Proton X70 marks a new phase in Proton’s partnership with Geely. Dr. Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton, highlighted the company’s progress over the past 18 months, including the launch of new models and the introduction of EVs and advanced technology.
The 2025 Proton X70 features updated exterior styling with a new front grille, trapezoidal headlamps, and a redesigned rear bumper. The interior has been refined for comfort and includes new technological features such as a 12.3-inch floating screen, voice recognition, and the Proton Intelligent Air Purifier System. The vehicle is also the first Proton model to offer both wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
In terms of performance, the 2025 Proton X70 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 177PS of power and 255Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission for smooth gear shifts and improved fuel efficiency.
Safety features on the 2025 Proton X70 include ADAS level 2 for the Premium and Premium X variants, with 13 active safety systems comprised of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop and go, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Centering Control (LCC), Lane Chage Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collison Warning (RCW), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Traffic Sign Information (TSI), and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC).
