2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT at Petronas Sepang International Circuit makes a big hit with locals after 12 years of absence

The recent Malaysian round of the 2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit from 27-28 June 2025, recorded a staggering 75,977 attendees. The turnout was nearly double the projected number by HARO Sports & Entertainment, the rights holder and promoter for the Malaysian round of the SUPER GT, proving the love of motorsports by Malaysian and international fans after a 12-year absence.

“We would like to underline our utmost appreciation to all Malaysian and international fans for their strong support of the race and we are already looking into ways to enhance this experience for fans in 2026,” said HARO Sports & Entertainment Managing Partner Fahrizal Hasan. The Malaysian round of SUPER GT is due to return until 2027 with discussions already underway with the GT Association (GTA) s the organizer, to make Malaysia a permanent overseas race for the series.

“I would also like to underline our highest appreciation to all partners, namely the GTA, sponsors and the relevant Government agencies for their support and getting behind this race. Had it not been for the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Malaysian round would have been held sooner in 2020. Despite the five-year delay, all stakeholders remained committed to this endeavor and this is something we are extremely grateful for. Thank you.”

Instead of solely focusing on the race, the SUPER GT Malaysia Festival served as a carnival for fans and families, featuring a Japanese-themed cultural and food festival, a GT Live post-race concert, an automotive exhibition, an auto show, and merchandise sales. The event also included the inaugural GR86 Cup Malaysia series and the second round of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia Vios Challenge.

Adding another unique experience, HARO Sports & Entertainment, in partnership with Mastercard, gave away a manual 3.0 GR Supra worth RM650,000 to one lucky winner, Miss Au Tzi Hua.

Ticketholders were eligible for the lucky draw when they purchased one of the following tickets with a Mastercard, from 1 June to 28 June: Main Grandstand (RM250); GT Suite (RM350), GT Live! Rock Zone (RM500), GT Club Paddock (RM2,000) and the exclusive Experience, Ultimate and Dream Packages (starting at RM5,000). Purchasers of the K1 Grandstand tickets are not eligible for the draw.

HARO Sports & Entertainment also announced an even bigger surprise for 2026, revealing that it has obtained consent from the GTA for a GT500 class wildcard entry.

Last weekend’s race had the participation of two Malaysian wildcard entries competing In the GT300 class in the form of Jazeman Jaafar and Adrian D’Silva, both driving for the EBM-GIGA Racing Team.

“GT500 is the pinnacle of SUPER GT racing and it is indeed a great honor to be entrusted with a wildcard entry’” said Fahrizal adding that discussions are still underway to identify the manufacturer and line up of drivers who will lead the Malaysian charge.

Super GT Malaysia Festival 2025 is held in celebration of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and Visit Selangor 2025, and endorsed by Tourism Malaysia and Tourism Selangor.
