Available in two variants which is the 5-seater and the 5+2 seating high-spec, the Discovery Sport R-Dynamic variants are priced at RM379,800 and RM409,800 respectively (applicable only to Peninsular Malaysia; excluding road tax and insurance).
All new design and features
New design cues for Land Rover Discovery Sport are incorporated to exude a sportier silhouette and a bolder front fascia. The SUV is currently sporting a new signature LED headlamps at the front and rear, alongside a new front grille and bumpers while maintaining the Land Rover’s trademark design which includes a prominent clamshell bonnet, rising beltline and a tapered roof. Â
Coming new to the Discovery is an all-new power transfer feature called the Driveline Disconnect, which has been employed into the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. This feature works by disconnecting the drive of the front axle to the rear wheels under steady state cruising, thereby reducing frictional losses and re-engaging AWD in less than 500 milliseconds.Â
In addition, the Terrain Response 2 is now also made as a standard feature on the new Discovery Sport. Terrain 2 Response puts an exceptional amount of Land Rover engineering with a simple twist of the dial to optimise performance on a variety of different surfaces for better traction and control. Each driving mode tunes the response of the throttle, brakes, differentials, and transmission to deliver premium handling. Drivers can select Comfort, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud & Ruts or activate the Auto mode which will automatically adjusts its torque delivery to suit the terrain.
The ClearSight Ground View, Land Rover’s world-first technology is a new feature for the Discovery Sport. It will provides drivers with a clear virtual view of the ground in assisting them to navigate through rough terrains, park in tight spaces and to avoid side kerbs on the road.
Finer power delivery with nine-speed gearbox
The SUV now comes with the efficient 2.0L turbocharged Ingenium Petrol engine and mated to the ZF nine-speed automatic transmission. This means a smooth and responsive drive. The nine closely-stacked gear ratios provide excellent response and allow for a very low first gear, improved mid-range acceleration and a tall ninth gear for reduced engine revs at higher cruising speeds; all of which, reduces fuel consumption, emissions and engine noise.
Interior that feels superior
The interior comes with a gorgeous 10-inch high definition Touch Pro infotainment system which includes Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM. The advanced touchscreen has a user-friendly interface that allows you to pinch zoom and swipe, as well as customise your home screen with wallpaper and add widgets. The system also allows the driver to control the climate system and Terrain Response 2. In addition, the Interactive Driver Display has also been fitted as standard with a 12-inch high-definition screen that displays multiple driving information, entertainment and active safety data, which includes navigation, phone and media.
Also available is a Generation 2 Head-Up Display which presents a greater amount of key information in high-resolution and full-colour graphics such as vehicle speed, gear position and navigation directions on the windscreen – to make journeys safer by helping drivers to keep their eyes on the road.
