Xiaomi’s next-generation Xiaomi 17 Series is confirmed coming to Malaysia, along with the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi 17 Series has a simple and elegant design. With clean lines and smooth edges, it looks polished and professional. The curved shape feels comfortable in the hand, making it easy to hold. The ultra-thin bezels give a near-borderless display, enhancing the overall look.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the thinnest and lightest model yet, measuring only 8.29mm thick and weighing just 218.4g. It has a flat body, minimal bezels, and a smaller camera area, available in White, Black, or beautiful Starlit Green. Besides its great looks, it is made to be sturdy with Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0, which is 30% more drop-resistant than its predecessor, along with a fiberglass back, aluminum frame, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
For a more compact option, the Xiaomi 17 is only 8.06mm thick and weighs 191g. It has powerful features for photography and a strong battery. Available in vibrant colors like Venture Green, Alpine Pink, Ice Blue, and classic Black, it includes a redesigned camera area and very slim bezels. The Xiaomi 17 is also designed to last, with a solid aluminum frame, Xiaomi Shield Glass, and IP68 certification for extra durability.
Xiaomi is partnering with Leica to bring high-quality photography to the Xiaomi 17 Series. With the Leica UltraPure lens treatment, the Xiaomi 17 Series works well in different lighting situations, keeping details clear in both bright and dark scenes. The high-quality lens is designed to minimize reflections and interference, allowing more light to hit the sensor. This series also includes helpful features like AI Creativity Assistant and Xiaomi HyperConnect for easy file sharing and a flexible setup for shooting and editing.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces a powerful 1″ main camera sensor called Light Fusion 1050L, which uses advanced technology for better HDR performance. Additionally, it features a Leica 200MP camera with a 75–100mm zoom lens that maintains great image quality while zooming, reaching an equivalent focal length of 400mm for excellent long-range photos. It also supports stunning video recording, offering options like Dolby Vision or ACES Log at up to 4K 120fps.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 compact camera focuses on versatility with a top-quality 1/1.31″ Light Fusion 950 sensor, providing an impressive dynamic range for lifelike images. It comes with a Leica 60mm telephoto lens for portrait shots, a 5x optical zoom, and advanced macro and AI Ultra Zoom features. The front camera has 50MP and better autofocus, making it great for selfies. Video recording is robust with 4K 60fps capabilities that enhance clarity and stability.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra can be upgraded with two photography kits. The new Photography Kit is lighter and includes a wrist strap, customizable shutter, dedicated video button, and is designed to be user-friendly. For more serious photographers, the Photography Kit Pro offers a premium grip, a built-in battery, a detachable shutter button for better handling, and a special Fastshot mode for professional-level shooting.
Each Xiaomi 17 Series device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, offering unparalleled performance with features suitable for demanding tasks like photo and video capture, multitasking, and gaming. The series supports up to 100W HyperCharge and 100W PD-PPS charging, enhancing compatibility with various chargers.
The Xiaomi Surge Battery, with 16% silicon content, ensures high energy density and longevity. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra includes a 6000mAh (typ) battery supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge, while the Xiaomi 17 features a 6330mAh (typ) battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge, maintaining a slim, lightweight design for rapid power delivery.
The Xiaomi 17 Series features custom-built OLED panels with peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, ensuring visibility in all lighting conditions. With a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate and DC dimming, it provides smooth visuals with minimal eye strain.
The Xiaomi-custom M10 display panel enhances brightness and power efficiency, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces Xiaomi HyperRGB technology for sharper, more vibrant displays.
Introducing Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi
Marking its 100-year anniversary, Leica partnered with Xiaomi to fuse its iconic heritage with modern technology in the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. This co-development integrates classic image capture with a durable aluminum-alloy body and a refreshed Leica-tuned interface that caters to both casual and professional photographers.
The phone features a unique Leica Camera Ring, providing a tactile experience similar to traditional cameras, and introduces Leica Essential mode, simulating the image quality and style of the classic Leica M9 and M3 (with MONOPAN 50 film).

Pre-order for Xiaomi 17 series in Malaysia will begin from 1 to 5 March 2026, to get special free gifts and discounts at Xiaomi stores across the country, on mi.com, and at official Xiaomi stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
