Wing Hin Motorsports’ Naquib Azlan and Amer Harris bags 7th in class and 11th overall after Round 1 of 2026 ENEOS Super Taikyu Series

The Malaysian team of Naquib Azlan and Amer Harris delivered a solid performance in their inaugural race of the 2026 ENEOS Super Taikyu Series. They finished 7th in their class and 11th overall out of 30 cars in Round 1 at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Driving the Wing Hin Motorsports #338 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, they raced alongside experienced Japanese driver Shuji Maeshima and ended two laps behind the winning Audi R8 LMS GT4. Even though the results weren’t a win, the team kept a strong and competitive speed during the 4-hour race, staying within one second of the leaders. They qualified 7th in their class and started 14th overall in the race.

“There was nothing more we could have done as luck was clearly not on our side. Both Naquib and I were affected by poorly timed Full Course Yellow periods, which ultimately cost us track position.

“Pace-wise, there’s definitely room for improvement, but it’s far from impossible. The team and drivers are working hard, and we’re heading in the right direction. It’s a steep learning curve for us to match the frontrunners, many of whom are SUPER GT GT300 and GT500 drivers,” said 22-year-old Amer Harris.

“This was only the first round, and personally I feel we’ve set a decent benchmark. It’s no easy feat coming into one of Japan’s most competitive endurance championships and going up against experienced local teams, but I trust the team and believe we’ll continue to improve and become more competitive as the season progresses.”

Round 2 will see Wing Hin Motorsports head to Suzuka Circuit for a 5-hour race on 18–19 April.

“It was a tricky race as we are still lacking pace. Everything is new for us, so we’re essentially building from scratch—developing data, refining strategy, and gaining seat and track time. It’s a privilege to compete in Super Taikyu, and there’s a lot to learn in this debut season,” said 24-year-old Naquib Azlan, who is in his second year racing in Japan after winning the 2025 Toyota GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup Clubman Series title.

“Considering we are a new team on the grid, the result is encouraging. We started the season in the midfield of the ST-Z class rather than at the back, and also placed well in the overall standings. We’re confident we have the right drivers and the right package. As with anything new, progress will come with hard work and experience,” said Wing Hin Motorsports Team Principal William Loh.

Wing Hin Motorsports’ 2026 campaign continues to be supported by long-time lubricant partner Moty’s.
