Yuika (known as 『ユイカ』in Japanese), a 19-year-old Japanese singer-songwriter is making an ‘official’ debut from UMJ with “Feels like I’m in love” (original Japanese title: 恋をしているみたいなの). The single was released on 6 February 2024.
Yuika began uploading her original songs to TikTok from 2021 and it didn’t take long for her first song, “Sukidakara” (original Japanese title: 好きだから。) to go viral. Its music video has marked over 70M views to date.
Her music has gained overwhelming support especially among teenagers for its sympathetic lyrics and calming voice, not only in Japan but also in other territories mainly in Asia. China is the largest overseas market but looking at streaming data (w/o UGC) for the past six months excluding China, the numbers are particularly prominent in Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Her songs are characterized by their realistic depiction of teenage adolescence and love, and the new song “Feel like I’m in love” is no exception. This song fits perfectly with the creations with whom people are ‘in love’ with, whether it be a partner or a favorite celebrity etc. ️
