Maxim Malaysia confirms no maximum age limit for E-Hailing Drivers while compliant with regulatory standards

Maxim Malaysia has announced that the e-hailing in the country remains open to individuals of all ages, with no upper age restriction, as long as applicants fulfil the necessary licensing and safety requirements.

According to data from Maxim Malaysia in 2026, drivers over 55 years old make up 14% of all e-hailing drivers, showing that the industry is open to everyone. The areas with the most experienced drivers are Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Bandar Miri, Sandakan, and Kuantan.

To become an e-hailing driver with Maxim, you need to be at least 21 years old and have a valid Competent Driving License (CDL), insurance, a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license, and an E-Hailing Vehicle Permit (EVP). You also need to pass a basic medical check at a registered clinic to make sure you are fit to drive. This is important to keep drivers, passengers, and the public safe. These rules are enforced by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) according to the Land Public Transport Act 2017 and are supervised by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

“Maxim Malaysia holds the view that earning opportunities should be shaped by commitment and compliance, not age,” said Mushfique Ahmed Chowdhury, Head of Legal Compliance & Government Relations, Maxim Malaysia. “We provide flexible earning options for all qualified individuals. Whether embarking on a new career path or seeking supplementary income after retirement, possessing the correct licenses, meeting health criteria, and having a sincere desire to serve are what enable you to start as a Maxim partner-driver. We offer flexible working hours, supporting both lifestyle freedom and a stable income on your own schedule.”

Maxim Malaysia welcomes drivers of all ages with a flexible platform for independent work or additional earnings, supporting income stability and highlighting the important role of senior drivers in community engagement.
