The long-awaited NFT project AOTAVERSE’s official Discord server was reported to be hacked at around 4 am HKT on 15 February. The attackers published fraudulent information and phishing links to induce members to mint on a fraudulent website.
In order to stop any scam happening further, AOTAVERSE decided to delete their Discord server, which had over 52000 members at that time. The group has announced this incident has caused losses as high as 2 million Hong Kong dollars.
AOTAVERSE’s official statement revealed that attackers hacked into its Discord’s bot. The details are still under investigation while AOTAVERSE aims at resuming operations as soon as possible. All whitelist members have been archived, and their right to participate in pre-sale is preserved. In addition, AOTAVERSE also announced that the project’s launch date will be postponed by two days to allow time to rebuild their Discord server and sort out the impact of the hack.Â
The new sale schedule is as follows:
- The Mekaverse Holders sale starts on February 18th, 7:00 pm(HKT)
- The whitelist pre-sale starts on February 18th, 11:30 pm (HKT)
- The public sale starts on February 19th, 12:00 pm (HKT).
The hack of AOTAVERSE’s Discord server again reflects this project’s anticipation. Supporters have also recognized the swift response of the AOTAVERSE team. Fortunately, this incident happened in the early morning, resulting in not many members being scammed.
